Greetings and salutations!  My name is Michael S. Bass.  I’m a PhD Candidate at Georgia State University in the Film, Media and Theatre Department – specifically in the Moving Image Studies track.  My focus, as well as my passion, lies in Film – analysis, representation and meaning, aesthetics, cultural studies, industry studies, national and international film histories, etc.  I have Bachelors Degrees in Communication and Media Studies as well as Philosophy, and I have a Masters Degree Film, Video & Digital Imaging.  My recent work situates itself within areas such as hyperrealism and simulacra, meta-cinema, historical representation, Japanese Cinema, West African Cinema, cinema and the cyborg, dream cinema, and “deconstructing” Disney animated films.

I look forward to the upcoming semester, meeting all of you, and exploring anything and everything film!
